WorkBC offers services for job seekers and employers, such as a job board, job search resources, training, hiring support, and candidate screening. The Salmon Arm/Sicamous WorkBC Employment Services Centre has locations in Salmon Arm and Sicamous, and works with community service delivery partners around the region.

The Province of British Columbia monitors employment characteristics and statistics by Metropolitan Areas and Development Regions.  The Columbia-Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is located within the Thompson-Okanagan Development Region.

In 2006, the labour force in the CSRD – persons aged 15 and over who are working – included 25,705 employees. Of these, 4,975 – nearly one-fifth of the labour force – were self-employed.
