Real Estate

The Shuswap Economic Development region offers a variety of real estate opportunities, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures, developments, and vacant land. Agricultural land is also available throughout the region.

Many of the outlying areas throughout the region are not zoned, allowing greater freedom with respect to how properties are used. Most areas within the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) have Official Community Plans (OCPs) to help guide development and property uses.

Most residential properties in the region are single-family dwellings, but some centres also offer apartments, townhouses, condominiums, and mobile home parks. The CSRD has a very high proportion of owner-occupied residential dwellings throughout the region. In 2006, the CSRD included 17,220 owned dwellings and 3,920 rented dwellings.

Many communities within the region have a high proportion of seasonal residential properties, especially in areas in close proximity to Shuswap Lake.

Information and statistics for prospective property owners are available through BC Assessment and the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board. Property listings are available through MLS.
