Education

The Shuswap offers a range of educational facilities, from pre-school and daycare services through college.

Pre-school and daycare services are available throughout the Shuswap. The Shuswap Childcare Resource and Referral Program offers information for parents, families, and child care providers.

 

All Shuswap Economic Development areas fall within the North Okanagan-Shuswap School District 83. There are 16 elementary schools located throughout the region. Middle schools are located in Armstrong, Salmon Arm, and Tappen, and high schools are located in Armstrong, Enderby, Salmon Arm, and Sicamous. School bus service is provided throughout all areas. School District 83 also provides Continuing and Alternate Education programs. 

Two private schools, King’s Christian School and Shuswap Adventist School, operate in Salmon Arm.

 

Post-secondary programs are available locally through Okanagan College, which offers a range of college diplomas, university studies, and trades and technical certifications. Millar College of the Bible also operates a campus in Sunnybrae offering a wide variety of post-secondary programming in theology, fine arts, ministry, and sports.

 

Full university degree programs are available nearby through the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus in Kelowna and the Thompson Rivers Universitywhich has its main campus in Kamloops
