The Shuswap might feel like a world all its own, but it’s easily accessible by road and by air – conveniently located in the central lower third of British Columbia, mid-way between Vancouver, BC and Calgary, AB.
Canada’s central roadway, Highway 1 runs right through the Shuswap region, and Highway 97 reaches this region from the Southern Okanagan. From Vancouver, follow Highway 1 along the Fraser River Canyon route or take the faster Coquihallla Highway 5.
From the Okanagan, Highway 97a connects with Highway 1 at Sicamous and Highway 97b connects at Salmon Arm.
From Calgary, follow Highway 1 West past Revelstoke, until you get to the warm and inviting Shuswap Lake system.
From Edmonton, take the Yellowhead Highway to Kamloops, then head East out of the desert into the lush forested Shuswap.

There are two commercial airports within a 1- to 2-hour drive of the Shuswap – Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and the Kamloops Airport (YKA). Located in Salmon Arm, the Shuswap Regional Airport can support a variety of personal and charter aircraft. The region is also served by a variety of air service providers.
