Falkland Businesses Shine with New Façade Upgrades

We are thrilled to announce the completion of the Shuswap Economic Development Society’s (SEDS) 2025 Business Façade Improvement Program in the Salmon River Valley area! Thanks to funding provided by the Economic Trust of Southern Interior BC (ETSI-BC), four local businesses have undergone remarkable transformations, enhancing not only their own appeal but also the charm and economic vibrancy of Falkland.

The grant recipients that took part in this milestone program include Honey Onyx Apiary Inc., Falkland & District Community Association, Okanagan Market Place / Sabrina’s Home Cooking, and Four Winds Eatery Inc. Each of these establishments plays an essential role in the community’s unique identity, serving as places where neighbors gather, visitors feel welcome, and community connections are strengthened.

A New Look for Falkland

With their renovations now complete, these businesses have officially unveiled their upgraded storefronts, featuring exciting updates like:

  • New signage to enhance visibility and attract more customers
  • Architectural features that add unique charm and curb appeal
  • Refreshed exteriors creating a brighter, more inviting atmosphere

These improvements are not just aesthetic touches; they represent a shared commitment to making Falkland a destination worth exploring for residents and visitors alike.

Why These Upgrades Matter

Investing in local businesses provides tangible benefits that ripple across the local economy:

  • Boosting Foot Traffic: Eye-catching, well-maintained storefronts naturally draw more visitors to explore what Falkland has to offer.
  • Encouraging Confidence: A polished appearance helps instill trust in local shops and services, fostering customer loyalty.
  • Attracting New Investment: Revitalized businesses inspire prospective entrepreneurs and investors to see Falkland as a prime location for growth.
  • Strengthening Neighbouring Businesses: When one business improves its appearance, it often sparks interest in neighbouring establishments to follow suit, creating a revitalized and welcoming business district.

Our goal has always been to drive local economic development, and seeing these façade upgrades reaffirms why programs like this matter so much.

A Celebration of Falkland’s Spirit

Beyond the economics, these improvements celebrate Falkland’s spirit of community. It’s more than a collection of businesses; it’s a place where neighbours stop to chat, where families gather, and where visitors create happy memories.

When our local businesses look their best, it reflects the pride and passion of those who run them. It also reaffirms to visitors what we’ve known all along—that Falkland is more than just a highway stop; it’s a destination with heart and soul.

Visit Falkland to See the Transformation

We warmly invite everyone to visit Falkland and see these stunning upgrades for yourself. Each business offers the perfect excuse to take a leisurely stroll through town. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch at Four Winds Eatery, shopping for local treasures or snack at Okanagan Market Place, grabbing some local honey at Honey Onyx, or exploring the warm community space at the Falkland & District Community Association, there’s something here for everyone.

At SEDS, we couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and hard work shown by these businesses. Their commitment to improving not only their spaces but also the community is nothing short of inspiring.

Together, we’re building a brighter, more vibrant Shuswap. Come and see what makes Falkland so special—we promise you won’t be disappointed.

We’d like to thank ETSI-BC for their support in making this initiative possible and the residents of Falkland for their continued enthusiasm and involvement. The heart of Falkland is its people, and we’re so excited to keep moving forward together.
